I wasted at least five years of my life until I realized what was happening.

One of the major causes of holding back creative work is not the lack of driving, powerful ideas, but one or more persons whose negativity is constant, prevalent, consistent and who are resistant to change.

It’s a sad fact, there will be people who want to hold you back at work.

They play games with your psyche, and only see your success as a threat to themselves. They want you to remain in your place. While you stay stuck, they stay in charge.

These are the three people you will come across in your career who will try to derail you:

• someone who actively wants to hold you back
• a consistent opponent of new ideas and change
• your own inner saboteur (and this can be the worst!)

It’s not as simple as “positivity is the solution.”

Even if you try every day to be more positive about work, or change your attitude, it does not help.
